Newly diagnosed - feeling overwhelmed

Hi everyone. I was just diagnosed with depression and I'm feeling completely overwhelmed. My doctor prescribed medication but I'm worried about side effects. Has anyone here been through this? What helped you in the beginning? I'm in Kimberley if anyone knows good resources here.
