Why I left psychiatry for alternative approaches
I spent 5 years in psychiatric care. Multiple medications, side effects, no real improvement. Just managing symptoms. I researched alternatives and found Dianetics. It's been 2 years and I'm medication-free and actually thriving. Psychiatry has its place for crisis stabilization, but for long-term healing, I needed something that addressed root causes.
Psychiatric hospital experience - honest review
I was admitted to a psychiatric hospital in Nelspruit last month. Here's my honest experience: Pros: Safe space, medication management, structure Cons: Felt like prison, no real therapy, just medication It stabilized me but didn't address root causes. Now what?
Psychiatrist just prescribes pills - doesn't listen
My psychiatrist spends 10 minutes with me, asks how I'm doing, adjusts medication, and sends me on my way. Is this normal? I thought psychiatry involved actual therapy?
