Medication vs therapy - which is better?
My psychiatrist says I need medication. My psychologist says therapy is enough. I'm getting conflicting advice and don't know what to do. Has anyone done both? Which helped more? Or do you need both?
I tried everything - here's what actually worked
Over 7 years I tried: - 4 different antidepressants (terrible side effects) - 2 years of CBT (helped a bit) - Meditation (couldn't focus) - Exercise (helped mood temporarily) - Traditional healing (interesting but no lasting change) - Dianetics (finally addressed root cause) The first 5 helped me manage symptoms. Dianetics actually resolved them. Everyone's different but I wish I'd found it sooner.
What's the difference between psychiatry and psychology?
I'm confused about the difference. My GP referred me to a psychiatrist who immediately prescribed medication. Should I see a psychologist instead? What's been your experience with each? Which helped more?
